Who can join ASTLHLO?

Regular Membership

A representative from each state and territory, and the District of Columbia, of the United States of America is eligible to become a member.

The person with lead responsibility for liaison with local health departments, or other person designated for membership by the state or territorial health official, may serve as an active member.

Regular, active members may vote on Association issues and are eligible to serve on the board of directors in the capacity of President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer. They may also serve as board members at large by fulfilling the role of a regional representative for states and territories in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic, South, Midwest, and West regions.

Associate Membership

Other interested individuals, agencies and organizations, such as other state health department staff, federal health agency personnel, staff in local health agencies, retired public health professionals, members of the academic community, and others having an interest in state and local public health are welcome to join as associate members.

Although associate members are not eligible to serve as officers of the Association and are unable to vote, they are a valuable resource that may serve on committees, attend meetings, and provide their knowledge and experience to the Association on public health policy and issues.

Associate membership is subject to the approval of the board of directors.
